Life isn’t flat.
It’s not linear.
It’s not a checklist.
It’s a ball. And that ball? It’s bouncing—or it’s deflating—based on what’s happening in seven core areas of your life.
Most of us try to “balance” our life like a stack of plates. But that’s not how human existence actually works. We live in motion. We absorb, deflect, adapt, and roll with what’s thrown our way. So if you want to build a business—or a life—that’s sustainable, satisfying, and yes, successful… you’ve got to understand how your Ball of Life is structured.
The Ball of Life: 7 Wedges That Make You Whole
Every ball has different panels—different colored sections that come together to make it bounce right. In your life, those panels are what I call the seven wedges:
Physiology – Your body and your physical environment
Emotions, Understandings, and Definitions – The internal stories you tell
Relationships – From intimate to professional including yourself
Time – How you use it and how it’s used up, the great equalizer
Work, Career, Mission, or Passion – Your drive and output
Finances – Income, investments, and how money supports or strangles you
Celebration, Contribution & Fun – Joy, meaning, and play
These aren’t nice-to-haves. These are everyday realities. Whether or not you give them attention, they are driving your decisions, your emotions, and your results.
And what gives each of those wedges shape and structure?
Three core pillars:
Structure
Standing
Bridging
Let’s break that down.
Structure: Define with Clarity
Structure isn’t about rigidity. It’s about clarity. This is where we ask the big questions:
What are my needs here?
What are the recurring problems I keep avoiding?
What are the resources and gifts I already have?
What do I really desire?
When you apply structure to one of your life wedges, you give it form. You stop being at the mercy of life and start shaping your experience. Without structure, your wedge deflates—it can’t carry weight, and it certainly can’t bounce.
Standing: Know Where You Stand and Why
Standing is about your personal power in that area. It’s not about perfection—it’s about understanding your history and your potential.
What has worked before?
What truths have you learned the hard way?
Where have you been resourceful, innovative, or simply resilient?
Standing gives you a grounded place to make your next move. You’re not operating from fantasy—you’re operating from experience, insight, and personal truth.
Bridging: Move from Problem to Solution
This is where momentum begins. Once you have structure and standing, you can finally create the bridge: the action plan that moves you forward.
What needs to shift?
What tools or systems will support this transition?
How can I go from feeling stuck to being in motion?
The bridge connects lack to abundance, confusion to clarity, fear to confidence.
YOU:
The Ball and Pillars Within
When you understand how the seven wedges and three pillars work together, you begin to see yourself as a dynamic, evolving human being—not a broken one.
You don’t need perfect balance. You need integration. The truth is, life will throw curveballs. You may have your finances on lock while your relationships are in shambles. Or your career may be thriving while your body is screaming for attention.
That’s okay. That’s life.
However, when you understand your ball—your own personal blueprint—you’ll know how to self-correct without crashing.
Take a moment and rate each wedge on a scale of 1 to 100. Be honest. Then ask yourself:
Is a piece of the structure, standing, or bridge missing from the wedges that feel weak?
What small shift would make the biggest difference?
Are you overdeveloping one wedge at the expense of the others?
This isn’t about judgment. It’s about awareness. You can’t bounce forward if your ball is half-flat.
THEY:
Applying the Ball & Pillars to Others
Now—here’s the part most people miss. You’re not alone in this.
Every human being you interact with has their own ball. Their own wedges. Their own pillars. And their definitions may look nothing like yours.
Your spouse, your kids, your friends, your coworkers, your clients… each of them sees life through a unique lens.
If you want to lead, sell, or serve at the highest level, you need to get curious about their ball.
What do they need in their relationships?
Where is their bridge broken?
What do they value that you’ve never even considered?
This isn’t about coddling—it’s about connecting.
Sales, leadership, influence… they all begin with empathy. If you can see the gaps in someone else’s ball and offer a meaningful bridge—you’ll never have to “sell” again.
The Bottom Line
Mastering the Ball & Pillars will change the way you live, love, and lead. It will shift how you show up—for yourself and for others. And yes, it will change your business. Because at the end of the day, sales isn’t a script—it’s a relationship. It’s one person offering another a bridge across the gap they can’t cross alone.
And you?
You’re the one with the blueprint.
